We have secured new funding to explore approaches to self-referred social prescribing. ‘Intervention development for community-based self-referred social prescribing’ will develop guidance for a whole systems approach to social prescribing. We will also propose pathways for self-referral to support increased social prescribing within communities.

Led by the University of Plymouth, the research team is a collaboration between the University of Sheffield, University of Oxford and local government and third sector organisations in Cornwall. Our work is funded through the Medical Research Council’s Public Health Intervention Development Scheme.

SIPHER is leading the whole systems mapping activity. Resident systems mapping expert Mo Hassannezhad is a Co-Investigator on the grant and so will lead this work for SIPHER.

The project will start in Autumn 2020.
